Christian Conference Trust
Tower Refurbishment

CLIENT
The Christian Conference Trust

LOCATION
Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire

CONTRACT VALUE
£1 Million

DURATION

32 Weeks

This project was undertaken at High Leigh, formerly the home of the Barclay family. Set in extensive grounds, the property is now used as a conference centre. This project involved 2 parts - both the refurbishment of the existing 1st Floor conference rooms to provide high quality meeting spaces, and the demolition of an existing brick-built tower and the rebuilding of a new tower in a style sympathetic to the main building to incorporate a new lift and stair to improve access to the new meeting rooms on the 1st floor.

A great deal of care was taken to ensure that the cast stone detailing around the doors and windows was as close to the original stonework as practicable. Similar care was needed to ensure the roof of the new tower blended in against the old building in terms of both materials used and the style of the roof. Incorporating modern services provision into an old building was made easier by the scale of the refurbishment being undertaken, giving us the opportunity to conceal most of the infrastructure within newly built walls.

The Client expressed their intention early on to spend money where necessary to ensure the highest quality product was achieved at the end of the project, and we believe the result speaks for itself in terms of both value and quality.
