Paragon Customer Communications’ main factory warehouse and office complex based in Dagenham was in need of an additional office space as a result of their rapidly expanding factory floor. AJS were selected by Paragon CC, due to our long standing direct to client relationship, to design and build a new 1000m2 open plan office space utilising an existing mezzanine structure. The client brief was to provide working space and facilities to cater for circa 160 members of staff, whilst keeping the space light and free flowing.

Paragon CC also required a number of private meeting rooms, board rooms, Directors’ offices and welfare areas surrounding the open plan work space; as well as a new client facing reception area. AJS produced a proposed scheme in conjunction with our structural engineer, mechanical and electrical engineers that were able to provide comfort cooling, fresh air and extraction throughout all areas. AJS also produced a full finishes schedule detailing all of our proposals.

The works included a new raised metal pan floor system to allow for the installation of electrical floor boxes beneath the desk location; penetrations in the building envelope to install new windows to provide natural light for members of staff, new glazing overlooking the factory area as well as a new mezzanine viewing platform.

AJS installed a number of bespoke kitchens integrating instant boiling and chilled taps; formation and furnishing of WC areas to deliver facilities to staff;  installation of new glass partitions with integrated blinds to allow privacy in the newly formed offices and board rooms;  an open ceiling void with all of the air conditioning duct work on display to give and modern, industrial feel and the installation of made to measure green walls housing Paragon CC branding and news bulletin boards and televisions.

From inception through to handing back over the ready to use areas, the project took 9 months to complete. Whilst the AJS team undertook the works, the day to day functions of Paragon CC remained operational.
